Reviews for PhyToga Series

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I take two classes per week. Prior to taking them, I had chronic pain in my upper back and neck from decades of hunching over performing medical studies. Since taking these sessions for a couple of months, much of the discomfort has markedly lessened. Additionally, Christine, has to be one of the most pleasant people that I have, personally, dealt with. Her professional knowledge and caring attitude are a credit to her as a human being. A welcome oasis in these turbulent times

This is a multi level class with modifications provided.

PhyToga Mobility and Stretch, Wednesdays @ 8:15 am (In Studio)

Join Christine for this all levels class to learn and experience the difference between mobility and flexibility; there is a difference and both are important!! We will do active range of motion (AROM) and Kinstretch (CARS) type activities to mobilize our joints and use techniques such as contract/relax, reciprocal inhibition and static stretches to improve extensibility of the muscles and fascia that support the joints  Tools such as balls, straps, foam rolls and bolsters will be used to facilitate these movements and enhance the stretches. Mobility Matters! (This is a 45 min. class)

  • Improve mobility and health of the joints

  • Increase extensibility of the tissues surrounding the joint

  • Increase efficiency and fluidity of movement

  • Decrease pain with movement

  • Optimize performance

  • Improve posture

  • Move like a “Supple Leopard”

PhyToga Kettlebells: The Basics, Thursdays @ 9:30 am (In Studio)

Sarcopenia, or involuntary loss of skeletal muscle mass and strength, progresses alarmingly fast post 50 years of age and affects every part of our lives: energy, joint health, bone health, hormones, longevity, balance, safety, and even our mental health. How do we counteract this decrease in function? Strength training with load (resistance). The only way to increase strength is to lift progressively heavy loads to tolerance, it is a critical part of your fitness regime.

Join Christine for this fundamental Kettlebell class, designed for all levels, making it accessible to the beginner and progressing those who are ready for more. Kettlebells are the gold standard for strength training and functional fitness. Once you get a taste, you will keep coming back for more!!

What is functional fitness? Functional strength training is the best form of strength training because it uses multiple systems and muscle groups working together at the same time. There is no tool more effective to do this than Kettlebells. Christine will "demystify" the kettlebell system of training and teach you the fundamentals on how to safely use them to improve your mobility, stability and strength, all with one simple tool.

PhyToga Balance, Stability and Posture, Fridays @ 8:15 am (In Studio)

Come play with Christine and do activities that are fun, engaging, and challenging to improve balance, stability, and posture - they all go together and you can't improve one without improving the other two!! Christine will teach you how to find your "kinesthetic awareness" (proprioception), which is your body's way of sensing where it is in space. We will re-pattern the brain so that you will integrate what you learn into everyday activities to safely enjoy all the things you love to do, significantly improving your functional mobility and performance. This is a multi-level class that will be adapted to your level and progresses you as needed.

Dance Fusion is a blend of modern and jazz dance to a fabulously curated playlist. Zumba with Rosanna! Tuesdays @ 10:45 am, Rosanna D’Orazio (In Studio)

Join Ro for this energetic class that will get your heart pumping and improve your balance, mobility and coordination, all in one class!. Most of all, it will make you smile as you dance through the decades with Aretha, Madonna, Cher, Beyonce, Lizzo and more! This class is appropriate for ALL LEVELS and is a low impact aerobic activity.

Rhythmic Flow Yoga, Mondays @ 10:45 am, Rich Garrison (In Studio)

All students will be able to participate and contribute to class in a meaningful way. Rich has had extensive experience with various modalities of yoga, but cites his training in the Anusara style as being the most beneficial to enhancing the experience of students. Anusara is a hatha yoga system that emphasizes alignment and a "celebration of the heart." Also a massage therapist by trade, Richard is hands on while teaching and very skilled in adjustment/assisting. Students will use a "permission stone" to indicate if they are ok with manual hands on adjustments during class. Participants should expect an enjoyable and challenging atmosphere in which to practice. Alignment is emphasized, but the class flows beautifully in a way that builds upon proper foundations. Some yoga experience is beneficial, but not necessary to participate in class.

Cardio “Step Into May”, Wednesdays @ 9:30 am, Jackie Bobrin (In Studio)

Cardio conditioning is a cornerstone for longevity, vitality and mental acuity. Come and get your mojo on and "Step into May" with Jackie! This is a low impact class and suitable for most people. Currently, this class is a series in May only. If it proves to be popular, we will continue it on our regular schedule. Regular class cards, membership or drop in apply. Class is 45 minutes long.
